PSV showed once again on Sunday afternoon in the last match of 2024 why the reigning national champions have been at the top for a whole year. Feyenoord, one of the biggest competitors for the national title, was sent home with a 3-0 defeat. PSV made an impression, especially in the first half. “The data showed numbers that we normally achieve over an entire match.”
PSV has sometimes been accused of having started matches poorly in recent weeks. But that was not the case at all on Sunday afternoon. PSV perhaps played the best first half of the season, as coach Peter Bosz also saw.
“What those boys showed in the first half. Such a high level and such a high intensity. The data showed numbers that we normally achieve over an entire match. That was not normal. We have Feyenoord with us from the start grabbed the throat and never let go.”

The logical question that is then asked is why PSV can now achieve this again and not a week ago in Heerenveen. “That has to do with our attitude. Today there was the absolute will to win. That was missing last week. I don’t really believe in underestimation. But I think that it is subconsciously up to the opponent. And that is not allowed,” was the trainer is still critical of his team.
PSV closes 2024 on a fitting note. Halfway through the season, the team is ‘normally’ six points ahead of number two (Ajax) again and Feyenoord is even ten points behind. “But what we can do in the first half of the season, another team can also do,” Bosz remained cautious.
“In the games we lost, it was mainly our fault.”
And although Ajax is closer to the Eindhoven team, Bosz mainly takes Feyenoord into account in the title race. “I estimate that a bit higher. Ajax has a bit more difficulty winning games. But if they continue to do that in the second half of the season, they are certainly a team to take into account. I am happy with the lead, but we are still there not.”
Bosz is now waiting for a skiing holiday, after which he will pick up the thread again in January. And if you saw PSV play football on Sunday, a new title seems imminent. PSV seems to only be able to lose to itself. “I think so too, especially if you see the first half. In the games we lost, it was mainly our fault. Then we are indeed our biggest opponent.”
