Qatar’s energy minister has threatened to cut off supplies of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the European Union if member states enforce a new law. That law, the CSDDD Directive, states that from 2027 onwards, larger companies in the EU must investigate whether their supply chain is violating human rights or employee rights or whether climate damage is occurring. Companies that do not comply risk a fine of up to 5 percent of annual worldwide turnover.
