Léa Bayekula won double gold at the Paralympics: “I can’t see my wheelchair, in my head I’m running on two legs”

Léa Bayekula (29) – or ‘Léa de Belgique’ as she calls herself on Instagram – won not one, but two gold medals at the Paralympics in Paris with flying speed and finally snatched the torch from the hands of the late Marieke Vervoort as best ‘wheeler’ on the slopes. This gives her place 66 in our election of Belgian of the year. “The joke about my name is already doing the rounds at the palace.” Wow, what a year. And what a dress!
