Amsterdam – The drama at the Christmas market in Magdeburg immediately brings to mind the pitch-black day in Berlin almost exactly eight years ago, when 13 people were also killed at a Christmas market. After that attack, the German authorities introduced new security measures that should have prevented a recurrence of the tragedy.
