FC Volendam started the match against Rijnsburgse Boys with the strongest possible line-up. The number two of the second division was the parent and hit the post quite quickly via striker Mark van der Weijden. Jeroen Spruijt shot an opportunity just wide, allowing Volendam to escape a number of times. “At half time you are still 0-0 and that is thanks to our goalkeeper.”
Off day
At FC Volendam things didn’t work out in the second half either. As a result, frustrations in the field increased. “We’re only going to pick on each other more. It wasn’t pleasant in the field,” says a disappointed Alex Plat.
Bram Ros headed home from a free kick and Nino Klaver shot in beautifully from outside the box. “We deserved to lose,” says trainer Rick Kruys about the elimination. “We have gone through the lower limit and then it is an off-day.”
