Loro Piana celebrates its 100th birthday with an exhibition in Shanghai.

A curated retrospective on the family history and legacy of the Italian fashion house will move to the Museum of Art Pudong (MAP) in Shanghai next year, Loro Piana announced on Wednesday. The review also marks a premiere, as it is the first exhibition in collaboration with a luxury brand in the museum, which opened in 2021.

The exhibition was curated by Judith Clark. It includes archival images, artwork and custom-made garments that showcase the Italian fashion house’s craftsmanship. The fibers and fabrics preferred by Loro Piana are also highlighted. The latter makes China the ideal location for the exhibition, as the country plays a central role in the history and growth of Loro Piana.

The partnership between the Italian label and China began with cashmere decades ago and has spawned valuable, authentic relationships. This exhibition honors the origins of the fashion house’s artisan collaboration in China and recognizes its long-standing association with pastoralists and communities dedicated to cashmere production.

Loro Piana’s anniversary exhibition will be on display at the Museum of Art Pudong (MAP) in Shanghai from March 22 to May 5, 2025.
