37.7 percent of the expenditure of the various governments in our country goes to social protection benefits and 14.8 percent to health care. Together, this amounts to more than half of total expenditure and the trend is also increasing, according to an overview for 2023 that the Institute for National Accounts (INR) published on Thursday. In absolute terms, this amounts to almost 160 billion euros out of a total of more than 317.5 billion euros.
