Before the top game against RB Leipzig, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany commented on the preparation and personnel situation. And sports director Max Eberl also gave insights into his discussions.

Looking forward to the Bundesliga highlight: FC Bayern will face RB Leipzig tomorrow, Friday. Coach Vincent Kompany spoke in advance about the opponent, but also revealed that three stars, Harry Kane, Alphonso Davies and Serge Gnabry, will return. It is still unclear whether they have enough for the starting eleven. But especially with Kane and Davies there is at least a realistic chance.

Things got interesting when it came to the topic of contract extensions. Sports director Max Eberl revealed that Manuel Neuer would soon receive a new working paper. “Both sides are happy when it goes through,” explained Eberl. “The discussions are going in the direction that we can imagine that. But now it’s just a matter of clarifying and discussing the final details.”

Neuer’s contract currently runs until the summer of 2025, but could be extended early for another year.

10:24 a.m. – The press conference is over!

10:23 a.m. – When extending contracts, Max Eberl wants to “clearly show the players what we stand for”. Trust plays a central role, “that’s what we try to give them and that’s what we get in return.” He doesn’t want to promise titles.

10.20am – Kompany likes the English coach/manager system. Nevertheless, he says: “I’m currently in a fantastic position at FC Bayern.” The division with Max Eberl and Christoph Freund works well.

10:18 a.m. – Kompany feels “very at home” at FC Bayern. “The best example is that we won seven games after the Barcelona game. It was restless in the environment, but internally it was calm. I’m sure we can win eight, nine or ten games in the future.”

10.16 a.m. – When asked by t-online, Max Eberl explains that a winter transfer is not planned. The sports director focuses on “internal transfers”, i.e. contract extensions.

10.15 a.m. – Kompany is looking forward to Christmas, the presents, the food and the contemplative time.

10.13 a.m. – Alphonso Davies will also be back, explains Kompany. The game probably comes too early for Josip Stanišić. Serge Gnabry is back in the squad.

10.12 a.m. – When asked about Harry Kane, Kompany explains: “We can’t replace Harry. He has an incredible feeling for where he needs to be in the penalty area. He’s one of the best players in the world.”

10.11 a.m. – Max Eberl confirms: Manuel Neuer should receive a new contract with FC Bayern. “Both sides are happy when it goes through. The talks are going in the direction that we can imagine. But now it’s just a matter of clarifying and discussing the final details.”

10.09 a.m. – Kompany’s view of Leipzig: “RB’s individual and collective quality is among the best in the league. The intensity is always very high, I expect the same for tomorrow. But whether they want to stay compact now or go higher, that’s all we know Marco Rose (Leipzig coach).

10:08 a.m. – Eberl on his time in Leipzig: “It was a good year, but then we realized: RB and Max Eberl, that wasn’t right.”

10:07 a.m. – Eberl does not have an update on the contract situation of some players.

10:06 a.m. – Max Eberl also expects a good reaction from the team. “But the fact is that we go into the break as league leaders. We have everything in our hands in the Champions League and the Bundesliga,” explains the sports director.

10:05 a.m. – Kompany explains that the defeat in Mainz had an effect. “I always want to win, but the motivation is of course even greater,” says the coach.

10:04 a.m. – Kompany’s review of 2024? “I haven’t had time for that yet. But I’ll use the free time I’ll get soon for the family. We were still playing in England during that time, that makes a difference. I’m looking forward to it!”
