Kelly takes action for residents affected after an explosion in Purmerend

On Sunday morning, just after four in the morning, a fire bomb exploded in a house on Maasstraat. A boy was seriously injured and five houses were declared uninhabitable. “I immediately had the feeling that I had to do something,” says Kelly.

1,500 euros have now been raised, but Kelly hopes to collect 6,500. “I just jumped into the deep end,” says the Purmerend native. In addition to the collection, she hopes that large stores in the city will donate gift vouchers.

Ask for help yourself

Kelly is not the only one taking action, because during the residents’ evening in the Tabor Church, help was also offered in the form of a collection of clothing items. The Animal Food Bank has also already taken action and donates food for pets that are now temporarily cared for by relatives. “We don’t know yet whether more is needed,” says Alexandra Hompert. People who need help can report to the Animal Food Bank.

Clup Welzijn is an organization for welfare work and social services in Purmerend and also offers help. “We are there to provide emotional and practical help for everyone in the neighborhood,” a spokesperson said. They also look at what kind of help is needed and respond when asked.
