Local shamans refuse to leave Bolivian ‘suicide houses’ on the edge of a deep abyss

Suicide houses. That’s what the small houses with colorful corrugated iron roofs on the edge of a steep, eroding cliff in the high Bolivian city of El Alto are called. The buildings often serve as workplaces for local Aymara shamans, who, despite encouragement from the local government, refuse to move to a safer place.
