On the barstool of Today Inside, Bas Nijhuis still cannot handle jokes about his bizarre double life full of Romanian adopted children. “Have a little self-mockery!”
Of course, he has to know what Bas Nijhuis does in his private life, but the viewer may of course think he is an incredibly strange guy. After all, someone who maintains a double life by making up the most bizarre stories about the adoption of Romanian girls and a serious alcohol addiction is not completely 100 years old.
Butt of ridicule
Bas is back in VI after a months-long absence. He didn’t dare to come for a while because Evert Santegoeds threatened to take even more dirt to get over him, but his source — the angry ex-mistress — thinks her goal has now been achieved. And that means that Bas can sit in VI with peace of mind again, even though the damage has already been done.
The strange behavior of the TV referee continues to haunt him: the men of VI make plenty of jokes about it. Wilfred Genee made it very colorful last week with his spicy opening question to Bas – and he was visible there not amused about – but even last night Bas could not avoid being the target of ridicule.
Women from region
Wilfred would like more women in VI and also asks Bas for tips. “Bas, you have no suggestions for other women here?”
Colleague Johan Derksen then: “Not from your region either or something?”
Bass: “Um, no.”
Johan: “There are no nice women there?”
Bas: “No, nothing at all. No.”
René: “Ah, there are nice girls from your area, Bas. Really, seriously.”
Johan laughing: “Yes! You don’t have to tell Bas that!”
‘Here we go again!’
The studio is in disarray and Bas laughs like a farmer with a toothache. “Ohhh, really, here we go again.”
René repeats: “Bas knows all about that!”
Johan: “Bass. He knows everything about offsides and women.”
Bas: “Wilfred laughs again, but he hits it again!”
Wilfred: “Yes, but I hadn’t said anything yet!”
Johan: “Yes, Wilfred behaved in an exemplary manner!”
Wilfred: “They do it, I don’t!”
Self-mockery
Johan thinks that Bas should not be so touchy. “And Bas, you have to go through life with a little self-mockery.”
Bas: “That’s right, completely agree.”
When Bas indicates at the end of the show that he is going to whistle at Go Ahead or something like that, Wilfred shouts: “They don’t have to be afraid of you doing crazy things there, so the management can keep calm, can’t they?”
Oops, oops, oops: will Bas ever get rid of that damage to his image?
