The mix of mulled wine and tentacles has gotten people on social media excited.
The glönkero trend is currently going wild on Tiktok, where people waiting for Christmas mix pineapple tentacles and mulled wine in the same glass. The tasters praise the combination as excellent in their videos.
Hartwall now reveals that there is no need to make your own blends next Christmas, because Hartwall is launching a mulled wine cellar next fall.
– It is unusual for us to reveal any of our plans for next year, but since the demand is so strong and we keep getting questions about where Hartwall’s mulled wine is, we wanted to let you know that the one you like is indeed coming, says the category marketing director Heidi Rantala For Iltalehti.
Rantala says that product development for glögilonkero was started last spring.
– Ananas lonkero and Lemonade have been summer hits, but we have had the idea for a long time that we would like to bring flavors to winter as well. Halloween is becoming a bigger and bigger party, and creating the Christmas mood is getting earlier all the time, he reasons.
Hartwall developed a glöglio bottle, which will be sold to consumers by Christmas 2025. Iltalehti got to taste the product before it has a product package or a name. Sipe Myllyniemi
Rantala says that consumers have also had individual requests for glöglio bottles for a long time. Hartwall listens carefully to consumer wishes.
– I’ve been asked a lot who developed the pineapple tentacle, and I always answer that yes, the Finns developed it.
Although many people on social media have mixed glög specifically with pineapple tentacles, you won’t find a tropical nuance in Hartwall’s novelty, but the taste world of the drink is more traditional.
– Juniper berries, spiciness and red berries fit well with the natural flavor world of gin.
The upcoming novelty tentacle has already been tested in consumer tests.
– Glögilonkero is one of the best scoring tentacles of all time. The drink was perceived as authentic, recognizable and tentacle-like. Our new flavor for next summer, which is still a secret, received the highest score ever.
Glög and lonkero have also been combined by Teerenpeli Panimo, whose Joululonkero is a Christmas-red gin-based tentacle flavored with glög. Teerenpeli Panimo describes the sweetness of mulled wine balanced by gin spices and lingonberry juice. Cinnamon, cloves and juniper berries can be distinguished from the aroma of the drink.
