The most listened to artist of the year on the Finnish Spotify charts was surprised by his huge popularity.
“A surprising name became the most listened to artist in Finland” was Iltalehti’s headline last week.
– I was surprised myself, and I didn’t know how to expect it. We just made music and it became the most streamed of the year, so this is a cool thing, rap artist Turisti, 27, commented to Iltalehte.
He was the most listened to artist in Finland in 2024 on the Spotify list. Also at the Emma gala Turisti, real name Harlova Makungila Vukuluis nominated in a total of four award categories: artist of the year, album of the year, rap of the year and domestic artist/band of the year chosen by the public.

Turisti can’t think of any other underlying reasons for his popularity than diligent music publishing. In September, his was published Roadman-titled album, in the summer of 2023 Traveller-album.
The artist comments that almost all of his time is spent making music.
– We’ve been hanging out all year at the studio almost every day. Next year, we will still be in the studio every day, he acknowledges.
If Turisti wins the Emma statue at the gala held on March 8 next year, he estimates that he will visit his mother to celebrate the award.
– She has always supported me, and was a loving woman, a really strong woman, Turisti says.

He estimates that his mother, who is from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, had a hard time coming to Finland when she didn’t speak the language and she had to raise a small child alone at a young age.
– I always give honor and respect to my mother.
Inter alia Magician, Damn good and A busy woman – hits, Turisti himself was born and raised in Finland. He visited his parents’ home country for the first time this year. It was also filmed during the visit Let’s send it music video for the song.
