Volksbank chooses ASN – ultimately SNS and Regiobank

SNS Bank, Regiobank and BLG Wonen will all continue as ASN Bank from next year. Parent company de Volksbank – which will also be called ASN and will also have the red squirrel as its logo – announced this on Monday morning.

The renaming means that all SNS stores and all Regiobank agencies with local financial advisors, especially outside the Randstad, will come under the banner of the sustainable ASN. BLG Wonen’s mortgage products will eventually also be called ASN. All brands have been following ASN’s sustainable investment policy for some time.

The renaming is part of a larger reorganization of de Volksbank. As part of this, 15 percent of the staff of the fourth largest bank in the Netherlands (700-750 FTE) will lose their jobs and just less than half of the state bank’s branches will be closed. In an explanation, CEO Roland Boekhout says that this reform will strengthen “our position as a sympathetic challenger in the Dutch banking landscape.”
