The French luxury goods group Kering SA announced on Thursday evening the appointment of Louise Trotter as creative director of the Bottega Veneta brand. The company confirmed previous press reports. A few hours earlier, the fashion house Carven, where Trotter has been creative director since 2023, announced the designer’s departure.
Trotter will take up her new position at Bottega Veneta at the end of January next year. There she replaces Matthieu Blazy, who has been the brand’s creative director since autumn 2021. Blazy is reportedly set to move to fashion house Chanel.
Francesca Bellettini, who as Kering’s deputy CEO is responsible for the development of the group’s brands, explained the personnel decision. “Louise brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective on Bottega Veneta’s heritage,” she said in a statement. “She is the ideal creative talent to continue, together with Leo Rongone and the Bottega Veneta team, the remarkable journey begun with Matthieu Blazy, whom I warmly thank for his visionary creativity.”
