It is the broadcaster who is by far the worst at handling criticism: Jan Slagter. Media critic Victor Vlam says he always gets a call from RTL when he says something about their boss Peter van der Vorst, but Jan really knows no boundaries. He recently had a very nasty rant against TV authority Tina Nijkamp and he is also angry with Angela de Jong.

Jan is angry

Jan was completely derailed in September during a television argument with Angela and now he is angry again. Why? Tom Egbers has been called a ‘horny cousin’ in some book about the NOS and Angela eagerly put that name in the headline of one of her columns. Always angry, but is that useful?

Wilfred Genee wonders. He says in BNRs The Friday Move: “Sometimes I worry about you, I think: what are you so worried about, Jan? I’m worried about you. Then you start ranting again when you’re sitting there with Renze, then things go completely wrong between you and Angela and so on. Then I think: where is this going? Now be careful!”

Wrong with Angela

Jan berates Angela. “I think more people have things go wrong with Angela from time to time, but anyway, that’s aside. She wrote a column this week… She has said this so many times. This is repetitive. Tom Egbers comes back on television and then he sits there and he is asked about it. Fine, but then she goes wild again.”

Tom’s uncritical interview at the table at Tijd voor MAX has been criticized by Angela. “Just leave it alone. This has happened, he has apologized, is coming up with a new program, he was also questioned on our radio and on television. How are you feeling, what happened, etcetera, etcetera. Then it’s done, you know.”

‘You’re going crazy!’

What does Jan do about it? “I think Angela de Jong… I mean: sometimes she writes columns, also about us, such as about the Vakantieman and that was very spicy… I texted her then: ‘You’re right’, but I have now also texted her I thought: you’re really going crazy now. This is a gramophone record that she keeps repeating and repeating.”

He gushes: “This is very easy money to make. You take an old column, change a few sentences and you have a column again.”

‘Let go!’

Wilfred does not understand Jan’s anger. “Even if Tina Nijkamp passes on some of your viewing figures, you will immediately be in the spotlight. Then I think: man, let it go! Who cares, dude!”

Jan: “If a program doesn’t score well, that’s fine, I’ll take my loss, but if a program sometimes scores less while it is still a very good program, then you don’t have to immediately call it a flop. . That makes me a little angry.”

Age issue

Tina recently responded to the latter at VI: “What I say is correct, he just has a number of ratings flops this season, yes, I can’t do anything about that, but what is good about him is that he is very angry about that, because that also says that he has a lot of passion for what he does and I actually really like that.”

Johan Derksen then: “Jan can’t handle contradiction either, hey, I think that’s an age issue.”
