According to the market value update in Liga MX, Cruz Azul’s Georgios Giakoumakis (30) remains the most valuable player. While the former Atlanta United professional remains unchanged at 9 million euros, two Mexicans are getting closer to the Greek. Jesús Orozco Chiquete (22) from Deportivo Guadalajara and Víctor Guzmán (22) from CF Monterrey climb by 2 million and 1.5 million euros respectively to 8.5 million euros each, making the two central defenders the first pursuers of Giakoumakis are.
Other notable upgrades include Cruz Azul goalkeeper Kevin Mier (24; +2m to 8m) and his defensive midfield teammate Érik Lira (24; +1.5m to 7.5m). ). The biggest winner, however, is Atlético de San Luis’ new signing Ronaldo Nájera (21), who receives a starting value of 2.5 million euros after his first professional games.
Nájera’s teammate and ex-Stuttgart player Mateo Klimowicz (24) also climbs. For the only German legionnaire in Liga MX it goes up from 1.8 million to 2.5 million euros.
Update Liga MX: Devaluations for Vazquez & Canales
On the other hand, ex-MLS professional Brandon Vazquez (26) experienced the most significant devaluation. The former FC Cincinnati striker, who was signed from Monterrey in January for 6.85 million euros, only scored three goals and one assist in 16 Apertura games. Because he has not yet lived up to his high transfer fee, his market value continues to fall from 8 million to 6 million euros. With that in mind, it’s no surprise that Vazquez has been linked with a move back to the MLS. The San Jose Earthquakes are said to be interested.
In addition to Vazquez, his teammate Sergio Canales (33) also goes down. The former Real Madrid and Real Betis midfielder came into the league in July 2023 with a market value of 15 million euros, since then his valuation has fallen five times in a row. As part of this update, Canales lost €500,000 and now stands at €7 million.
This is how transfer market market values work
The transfer market market values are created taking into account various pricing models as well as a strong involvement of the transfer market community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values cannot generally be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.
The goal is not to predict a price, but rather an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this will be here listed. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for a detailed definition of market value).
