22-year-old futsal player Carol Oliveira died last Sunday in the southern Brazilian coastal city of Balneário Camboriú when he fell from the roof of a high-rise building.
Oliveira walked in the dark at the helicopter landing site with a phone in his hand. He was staring at the screen so intensely that he didn’t notice the obstacle in front of him. The woman tripped over it and fell from the 25th floor. The distance to the ground was more than 90 meters.
The shocking chain of events was recorded on Oliveira’s brother’s phone, as he was on the roof at the time of the tragedy shooting a selfie video, with Oliveira moving in the background.
The woman played in the Centro de Tijucas futsal team. He was a big Corinthians fan, which was evident, for example, in his choice of shirt in social media photos.
Oliveira’s former futsal coach Angelica Solidade told the Brazilian media what kind of personality the young woman was among the team.
– Everyone liked him. I never heard anyone say that “Carol is boring” or that “I don’t like her”. Everyone liked him, from adults to young players.
Solidade set up a fundraiser to help Oliveira’s family with funeral expenses.
