There is little that is real in the TV world and even the oh-so-authentic Raven van Dorst has fallen through the cracks. What about Frans Bauer? “That camera crew was already ordered!”, Angela de Jong shouts.

Raven van Dorst receives a lot of criticism because her program Boerderij Van Dorst is not as authentic as she claims. For example, the celebrities do not do their own work and we see them cooking for bacon and beans; that is purely for the atmospheric images, because shortly afterwards a caterer secretly comes by to deliver food, Ellen ten Damme revealed.

Star in Rotterdam

What about Frans Bauer’s current Christmas soap? According to Angela de Jong, he is a hero, a good family man and a celebrity without any frills. “Someone who is averse to plays in TV series. I thought,” she says in her mind AD column. “But unfortunately. My fearful suspicion soon turned out to be true.”

It bothers Angela that last night’s scene in which Frans goes to the garden center with his family is so contrived. “Frans looked around with a sigh. ‘That’s how you are the star in Rotterdam, that’s how you walk in the garden center with your wife.’ And: ‘I could have also been on the couch.’”

Staged

This is all fake, according to Angela. “No matter how sensitive I am to these kinds of funny one-liners, Frans was of course not walking there by chance. The camera crew had simply been ordered for that day and the visit had been planned for a long time. Nothing spontaneous about it. And then son Christiaan also started making those rehearsed funny faces for the camera.”

The next scene, in which they put up an eight-meter-high Christmas tree, was again appealing to Angela. But, she concludes: “One urgent piece of advice to the family: keep messing around with lights, but just do that without a camera in the coming years.”
