The reason Gordon is so addicted to attention is because he comes from a loveless background. That is the analysis of Guido den Aantrekker, editor-in-chief of Story. “I’m cute, pet me, pet me.”
When you think of Gordon, you quickly think of his need for attention and his long toes. But why is that? Story boss Guido den Aantrekker speculates about it in the AD program Famous or Infamous and thinks it has to do with his youth. “He is actually a very sweet boy who wants to be patted on the head.”
‘Pet me!’
Why exactly? Guido: “He is one of eight children, comes from a rather loveless family from Amsterdam-Noord, Floradorp, where his mother literally said to him when he finally came out as gay: ‘Boy, I wish I had been with you birth but a pillow pressed on your head.’”
Horrible, according to the magazine maker. “Yes, you know, when you grow up in that context and constantly have to prove yourself… That’s what he wants too: I’m nice, pet me, pet me. Yes, then you become like that.”
Huge addiction
Now that is taking its revenge, according to Guido. “He has such a huge addiction to attention. Gordon is going a bit too far in what he shares. It’s just too much. He simply cannot do without that attention.”
Goor has simply shared too much, especially in the romantic field, he says. “Of course he really has a bloodbath of love life behind him. It is all immediately put online. I mean: the knee print in the sand is still fresh or he is already putting it on social media.”
One on one
Guido is referring to the marriage proposal of his ex Gavin Rozario, who knelt in the sand of the Maldives. “The whole world needs to know and the chance that things will go wrong for Gordon is almost one-on-one now, so that is also shared, or the media shares it and then he is angry again. He just can’t live without that attention.”
Every now and then Goor can no longer be found on social media for a while. “Gordon always tries to take a break from his busy life in what he shares on social media and through the media, but you can set the clock that it may take one or two days at the most.”
Bottomless pit
The media is always on top of it. “Gordon has always been interesting to the media and will continue to be interesting for as long as he is in the media because it really is a bottomless pit of entertainment.”
“You can love it or not and there are now a lot of people who no longer love it, but not liking something doesn’t mean you don’t look at it.”
