In the first half, TVB Stuttgart was seven goals behind SG BBM Bietigheim. Led by Kai Häfner, the guests turned the game around.

The duel between Bietigheim and Stuttgart on Monday evening (December 9th) began with a shock for the hosts. Tom Wolf landed unhappily on the hall floor after a throw from the backcourt and had to be led off the field injured. At this point, less than a minute had been played. It took just under two minutes for the first goal to be scored; Gonzalo Perez was the first to score for Bietigheim.

Afterwards, an even duel developed before SG BBM picked up the pace significantly. From the 10th to the 22nd minute the hosts managed a 9:2 run, Jonathan Fischer scored the goal to make it 13:6. TVB coach Jürgen Schweikardt had recently made a goalkeeper change from Miljan Vujovic to Samir Bellahcene, and this change paid off in the final phase of the first half. Bellahcene made four strong saves, and the Stuttgart team also acted more purposefully in attack. The result: TVB Stuttgart fought its way back – at the break it was only 15:14 for Bietigheim.
