Mbappé “surprised” by rape accusation

According to media reports, Kylian Mbappé is being investigated in Sweden on suspicion of rape. The star speaks out in an interview.
France’s football star Kylian Mbappé has spoken out about the alleged rape allegations against him and asserts that they have nothing to do with him. He never felt affected by it, Mbappé said on the French television show “Clique” on “Canal+”. Although he has not yet received a summons from the Swedish judiciary, if this happens he will of course comply with it.
In the interview, Mbappé again asserted that he did not know the plaintiff’s name. “I was surprised. I’m still surprised, by the way. These are things that happen and you don’t see them coming,” he said. According to media reports, the 25-year-old Real Madrid professional is being investigated in Sweden on suspicion of rape.
The prosecutor’s office has not yet officially named the plaintiff’s name. Mbappé described the first reports in the Swedish press in October as fake news. According to Swedish media, the alleged crime took place at the Bank Hotel in central Stockholm.
“He knows that he has absolutely nothing to blame himself for,” his lawyer Marie-Alix Canu-Bernard told broadcaster TF1 last month. Mbappé had also announced that he would file a complaint for defamation or committing an imagined crime.
