“I thought we had several problems today,” Baas said afterwards. “Creating real opportunities was the biggest problem. At times we were able to play under AZ’s pressure, but as soon as we entered their half, we lacked creativity.”

Trainer Farioli saw a bright spot, Ajax’s final offensive after it fell behind 2-0. That offensive failed, by the way, because the Amsterdam team ultimately did not get further than a goal from Mika Godts.

“But I couldn’t really have expected more from my players,” said Farioli. “They did what they could. I am happy with the reaction after the 2-0. It showed our will to go for the equalizer.”

Farioli believes that Ajax’s loss should be seen in perspective. “Because in every season you have moments when you are having a hard time,” he says. “We have to move on and prepare for the match against Lazio,” he continued.

Little Farioli

Bee ESPN Farioli said he will miss the birth of his second child. “I’m going to be a father for the second time, but we don’t know when yet,” Farioli says afterwards in front of the ESPN camera.

Farioli then appears to say that he will miss the birth, which is taking place in Italy: “I will stay here with my players.”

Youri Baas was not aware of the possible birth of Francesco Farioli’s second child. He only heard the news for the first time during the press conference. According to Baas, it shows how much Farioli is concerned with Ajax. “Is that so? He is a trainer who would do anything for it,” said Baas.”
