NATO will help Ukraine as a “valuable partner”

The North Atlantic Alliance will support Ukraine in every possible way as a valuable partner. This statement was made by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

“We are ready to help (Ukraine – ed.), But you need to understand that we are talking about a valuable partner, not an ally,” the NATO Secretary General said at a press conference in Brussels on Friday, January 7.

According to Stoltenberg, Ukraine cannot pose a threat to Russia. To argue this is the same as “turning a problem inside out,” he stressed.

As Stoltenberg noted, Ukraine is a “sovereign, independent nation” that “has the right to defend itself.”

“This right is enshrined in the UN Charter. When Ukraine is threatened, everyone understands that Ukraine will step up its efforts to be able to defend itself. And NATO allies provide support,” he said.

As for Russia, according to Stoltenberg, she “occupied part of Ukrainian territory and continues destabilize Donbass“.

Moreover, he stressed: if the negotiations with Russia on security issues fail, NATO will prepare “for Russia’s aggression against Ukraine”

Russia-NATO Council talks scheduled for January 12… In addition to the situation in Ukraine, their participants will discuss issues of military security in Europe. The European Commission has already stated that no one can impose security decisions on Europe – the European Union must work out its proposals.

Moscow is concerned about the possibility of deploying NATO weapons and infrastructure in Ukraine. In the West, concern is expressed over the movement of Russian troops near the border with Ukraine. Earlier in Kiev, it was stated that the Russian Federation was allegedly “preparing an invasion” of Ukrainian territory. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov responded to this that Russian troops are moving through the territory of their country, this does not pose a threat to anyone and should not cause any concern.
