At the end of the second quarter of 2024, the total value of Deutsche Bank’s US holdings was only $221.63 billion.

Compared to the previous quarter, the US investment bank JPMorgan fell one place in the Deutsche Bank portfolio in the third quarter of 2024. The holding was reduced by 386,016 shares to 12,555,619 JPMorgan shares in the reporting period. In total, these had a value of 2.65 billion US dollars as of the reporting date and accounted for 1.08 percent of the total portfolio.
The investment in the US health insurer UnitedHealth made it into Deutsche Bank’s top ten US investments in Q3 2024. The financial institution has added a further 679,831 shares (+16.48 percent) to its portfolio and now has a total of 4,806,193 UnitedHealth shares, which are worth $2.81 billion. This means a portfolio share of 1.14 percent.
The US pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly was able to defend its eighth place, with Deutsche Bank purchasing 181,783 shares in the company in the third quarter of 2024. The total of 3,256,005 Eli Lilly shares in the portfolio were worth around $2.88 billion as of the reporting date, which corresponded to 1.17 percent of the Frankfurt-based company’s entire portfolio.

7th place: Alphabet C
Deutsche Bank’s US portfolio fell one place for C shares from Google parent Alphabet. Ultimately, the Frankfurt-based company threw 334,553 shares of the search engine company out of their portfolio between July and September. The financial institution now holds 22,162,622 Alphabet C titles, which were worth around $3.71 billion as of the reporting date. This corresponded to a portfolio share of 1.51 percent.
Deutsche Bank purchased shares in the Zuckerberg Group Meta Platforms in the third quarter of 2024 and increased its portfolio by 884,032 Meta shares (+12.05 percent) to 8,222,498 securities worth $4.71 billion. This accounts for 1.92 percent of the entire portfolio. In this ranking, the Facebook parent has gained a position.
The e-commerce giant Amazon was able to defend its fifth place. Deutsche Bank acquired a whopping 925,297 new Amazon titles between July and September. As of September 30th, the Frankfurters held a total of 26,921,607 Amazon securities, which were worth $5.02 billion. This corresponded to 2.04 percent of Deutsche Bank’s entire US portfolio.

In addition to Google parent Alphabet’s 22,162,622 C shares, Deutsche Bank also held 42,597,987 Alphabet A shares in the third quarter of 2024. Compared to the previous quarter, Deutsche Bank increased its position here by 4,397,337 stocks (+11.51 percent). At the end of September, the market value of the investment was around 7.06 billion US dollars, making up 2.88 percent of all US shares in the Frankfurt-based portfolio.
Although it lost a place in the Deutsche Bank ranking, the AI profiteer NVIDIA still made it onto the winner’s podium. With a total of 85,944,758 shares in the chip company, the financial institution held 2,144,500 shares (-2.43 percent) fewer in the third quarter than in the previous quarter. On the stock exchange, the NVIDIA notes were worth around $10.44 billion as of the reporting date. The position made up 4.25 percent of the bank’s total US portfolio.
Apple moved up one place in the list of the largest US holdings in Deutsche Bank’s portfolio. So the silver medal goes to the iKonzern. The position in Apple ultimately increased by 3,531,966 shares or 8.49 percent, so that Deutsche Bank now owns 45,141,614 Apple shares. As of the reporting date, these were worth almost 10.52 billion US dollars, which corresponded to 4.28 percent of the entire portfolio.
Microsoft shares were able to maintain their top position in the Deutsche Bank portfolio in the third quarter of 2024. Deutsche Bank increased its stake in the software giant by 1,319,827 shares (+4.42 percent) between July and September. As of September 30th, the financial institution now had 31,207,828 Microsoft securities, which were worth 13.43 billion US dollars. This corresponded to a share of 5.47 percent of the Frankfurt financial institution’s total portfolio value.
