On Thursday evening (December 5th), the tribute concert “Mark Lanegan 60 – A Celebration” was celebrated at London’s “The Roundhouse” to honor the musician who died in February 2022. Numerous musicians who influenced Lanegan during his lifetime honored his 60th birthday with musical performances. Including Dave Gahan.

The Depeche Mode singer was one of those who worked closely with Mark Lanegan until his death. The two became friends while touring together in the 2000s. Afterwards they also made music together in projects like Humanist and Soulsavers and wrote songs together.

Gahan spoke about the close relationship he had with the American musician in an interview with NME on Tuesday (December 3). “[…] His songwriting and especially his voice have been my companion for years,” he said.

In addition to Gahan, other well-known musicians such as Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), Chrissie Hynde (The Pretenders), Bobby Gillespie (Primal Scream) as well as the Soulsavers and many more performed at the tribute concert.
