Ostend came out of the international break battered: Joppe Mennes injured his foot during training, Pierre-Antoine Gillet injured his knee during the home match against Latvia. Mennes is unavailable for three months. Gillet will be out of action for two to three months due to his injury, the club communicated.
The replacement that Ostend is now bringing in is a solid reinforcement. Anosike is 2m01, 26 years old and has both an American and a Nigerian passport. Especially at the end of the season, he was on a roll with Liège and emerged as perhaps the best player in Belgium during the play-offs when his team took on first Charleroi and then Ostend. He scored 20 points per game and made 50 percent of his three-pointers. Moreover, the athletic player took 7.2 rebounds per match during the playoffs.
In recent months, Anosike has been active in the Philippine competition. Anosike will not be available yet on Saturday against Den Helder. The club hopes to get him eligible to play as soon as possible.
