During the first leg in Eindhoven, Veerman was chosen as the best player of the week in the Champions League. “Joey is lucky that he has two good feet,” says good friend and amateur football player Stef Schokker. “When he did an internship in construction for a week, he went home crying. Joey was doing so badly that he had to puke,” Schokker says, laughing.
“Other than that, Joey has never actually worked an hour. He worked a few Saturdays in ‘the fish’, but he thought those days were too long. There is always something, Joey can complain.”
