They initially planned to carry out the attack one day during this week, but then it turned out that the plan had been postponed for a few weeks. That was sufficient reason for the federal public prosecutor’s office to intervene immediately. We had the feeling that they were ready to commit an attack,” said Van Duyse.

Three adolescents were also arrested in France on Monday in connection with the foiled attack.

An 18-year-old young man from Liège was also arrested on Sunday. He has been arrested and charged with participating in the activities of a terrorist group and with actions in preparation for an attack.

This would be a different attack than the one on the Botanique. He knew one of the three minors who were arrested on Sunday through the internet. “But his case is separate,” the prosecutor’s office emphasized. So two attacks may have been foiled.
