After several crisis meetings of the supervisory board, Dynamo Dresden announced the separation from sports director Ralf Becker. The 53-year-old was released with immediate effect, the struggling third division team confirmed on Tuesday evening. This is the result of intensive discussions with all those responsible at the club. Coach Markus Beginning is not mentioned in the club announcement and will therefore remain in office for the time being.
The SGD only has one win from their last six games. In 2024 there were already five defeats in eight games, as many as in 20 games until the third league’s winter break. After the 0-1 defeat at relegation-threatened Halleschen FC on Saturday, Dynamo slipped from the interim table lead after the 22nd matchday to third place in relegation.
Becker has been in office since July 1, 2020. Under his leadership, the club rose, but had to go back to the third division the following year. “The long-term collaboration with Ralf Becker was characterized by great challenges as well as emotional ups and downs. It must now be stated that the necessary trust is missing that our ambitious club goals can be achieved together with Ralf Becker in the short and medium term. Before the next ten games in the 3rd league, a joint effort is required, which must be carried out communicatively and transparently within the club. The change we have initiated offers the opportunity to get back on the road to success with identification, hard work and leadership. This is exactly the opportunity we want and need to take advantage of now,” explained Supervisory Board Chairman Jens Heinig.
3rd League: All stadiums 2023/24 according to capacity
Becker’s tasks will be temporarily carried out by Managing Director Communications David Fischer, who will be supported by sporting advisor Ulf Kirsten and Managing Director Finance Stephan Zimmermann. A possible new appointment will be discussed in the coming days.
