From new insights & monotony in musical garb to old school diss tracks, everything is there.
This week: Eli Preiss shows off her indie skills and takes listeners on an audiovisual journey with a harmonious music video. Vulnerably and with an adult view of the world, she addresses the monotony of life. Farid Bang, on the other hand, has followed in familiar footsteps and released a diss track. “Technical KO” is a four-minute response to months of provocations from rapper and boxer Bözemann. And Tua and Tarek from KIZ talk about a trip to the Netherlands and don’t actually want to go back. Nothing special at first after a nice vacation, but the feature and the feelings of love should also touch die-hard KIZ fans.
Eli Preiss – “Everything (and nothing)”
Eli Preiss is actually known for her modern hip hop and trap elements as well as R’n’B vibes. And even the slow, scene-typical rave instrumentals are not missing from their musical repertoire. But with her latest release, Eli Preiss has, for once, relied entirely on dreamy R’n’B. With an electronic beat and gentle guitar lines, she sings about a life in which you can’t make any progress – the monotony of everyday life. And in this tenacious and questionable state she is herself her own greatest enemy.
She describes these feelings with: “I feel like I’m in a movie that always plays backwards. How much more do I have to endure before I’m finally where I want to be?” She also delivers a music video that almost idyllicly distracts from the meaning of her track. The 26-year-old belongs to a generation of musicians who are placing more focus on cinematography again. Preiss’ motto here: With a video shot on film, less is more. She can only be seen in three rooms and mostly sitting on a chair – but she still manages to leave an audio-visual impression in such a simple way.
Farid Bang – “Technical KO”
Farid Bang’s patience has broken. Without much notice, a diss track against Bözemann was released on February 28th. After months of provocations, Bang didn’t give out any swipes with “Technical KO”, but instead addressed Bözemann as well as Cologne rapper Capkekz and YouTuber Ali Osman directly with punchlines.
The reason for the harsh song is a series of allegations that have been made against Farid Bang for months. Accordingly, Bözemann, Capkekz and Osman claim that the 37-year-old was said to have been a “hustler” when he was younger and that he found underage boys for a millionaire in Düsseldorf. Surprisingly, the rap great was unimpressed by these rumors for a long time and didn’t really comment on the topic – but his patience has now apparently come to an end. In his answer, all of his rhetorical power is unleashed, especially against Bözemann. And the wording was chosen deliberately, because Farid Bang focuses in particular on the celebrity boxer’s sporting career. He does this in his typical way – it’s all about his mother. In addition to the numerous insults, the rapper claims that Bözemann has only fought three fights so far and has lost all of them. Two of the fights lost by a technical knockout…
Shortly before the release of his new album EDEN, Tua delivers another track that showcases his new sound. This time he surprisingly brought in someone – Tarek KIZ. In “Netherlands” the two sing in a duet about beautiful nights in neighboring Germany. And not only that, they say: “I lost my head in the Netherlands”. When you listen to it, it feels like the “day after” or “reminiscing”.
