With the DFB team to the European Football Championship? Maxi Beier doesn’t wait for Nagelsmann to call

Maximilian Beier from Bundesliga soccer team TSG Hoffenheim is pushing towards the 2024 European Football Championship in Germany after his second brace in a row.

The rather excited Maximilian Beier quickly got into a chatting mood. He still goes to the bakery “very relaxed”, continues to collect driving lessons for his driving license and was just a little afraid of “falling down” when celebrating on the fence with the fans.

In all his comments after his second brace in nine days, the whiz kid from Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim couldn’t get the grin off his face. That was the case immediately after the 2-1 (2-0) win against Werder Bremen, when Beier was asked about an upcoming call from Julian Nagelsmann.

“You have to ask him that. It’s not up to me to decide,” said the match winner on the “DAZN” microphone: “I just take the flow with me week after week. It’s extremely fun to play football at the moment.”

At the same time, the youngster’s European Championship applications are becoming increasingly serious. The 21-year-old had already scored twice in the win last matchday at Borussia Dortmund (3-2).

European Football Championship 2024: Will Maxi Beier make his DFB debut in March?

National coach Nagelsmann can hardly avoid nominating the fast striker. On March 14th he announced his squad for the international matches in France on March 23rd and against the Netherlands on March 26th.

Against Bremen, Beier scored in the 8th and 44th minutes for Hoffenheim, who are hoping to take part in the European Cup after their second win in a row. They were Beier’s number eleven and twelve goals of the season. Afterwards, the attacker celebrated euphorically with the fans (“I prefer the two wins to the two double packs”). “It was the second time for me on the fence, which is of course great and a nice feeling,” said Beier.

The mood of the Brandenburg native, who came to Kraichgau from Energie Cottbus in 2018 and was temporarily loaned to Hannover, became even better thanks to the great praise from his coach. “He’s doing very well. We don’t have to talk around it,” said Pellegrino Matarazzo: “He’s extremely important for us, he’s also extremely hard-working. His development is unbelievably great.”

The coach is particularly impressed by his protégé’s mentality. “He scores goals, he’s brutally fast – but he works and works,” said the 46-year-old: “He always goes over it, he works defensively, he always sprints. That makes him extremely valuable for every team. It will more and more exciting about him. He goes his own way.”

Maybe towards the EM?
