Before the game against TSG Hoffenheim, Borussia Dortmund has to cope with personnel setbacks. The club can still hope for one player.
Borussia Dortmund could use RB Leipzig’s defeat at FC Bayern on Sunday to take a big step towards the Champions League. BVB is currently in fourth place, which still qualifies for the premier class. The Saxons are fifth, one point behind. Dortmund can consolidate fourth place with a win against TSG Hoffenheim and extend their lead to four points.
But two top performers cannot help BVB. Goalkeeper Gregor Kobel is still out. The keeper had to miss the Champions League against PSV Eindhoven at short notice during the week and is still not fit again. Alexander Meyer is standing in for him again between the posts.
Süle is missing – Hummels is questionable
Coach Edin Terzić also has to do without national player Niklas Süle. According to “Ruhr Nachrichten”, he was missing when he left for the team hotel on Sunday. Süle was also out against Eindhoven. He was sick.
There is also uncertainty about whether Mats Hummels will be used. The 35-year-old probably joined the team later and was also not present at the departure. Why is currently not known.
