Benjamin Sesko doesn’t want to leave his tent at RB Leipzig early and instead wants to attract attention from the Bundesliga club over a longer period of time. The 20-year-old center forward moved from RB Salzburg to the Saxons last summer for 24 million euros. The contract, which runs until 2028, is said to contain an exit clause of 50 million euros – without this clause, the deal might not have come about, as a “Sky” report suggested in mid-January.
It is unlikely that Sesko will make use of this clause as early as 2024. At least the Slovenian gave hope in a “Sport Bild” interview: “I want to spend a lot of time here because the club suits me well. We’ll see how many years it will be in total.” In Leipzig he’s playing for a team “that suits my style of play.” On “Sky” he even said that RB was “100 percent” a good fit for him. This is especially true with regard to the many counterattack situations.
In the current season, Sesko scored ten goals in 29 games across all competitions – from the 19th to the 21st matchday he was always a successful goalscorer. “I had to gain experience, I wasn’t 100 percent at the level when I got here. I’m getting closer to this level now. “I’m happy that I can show that more week after week,” said the offensive man.
