Despite the defeat at VfL Bochum, Thomas Tuchel will probably be able to stay in office for the time being. At FC Bayern, the coach has a final marathon ahead of him. The bosses are apparently already working on a plan B in the background.
As “Sky” reports, FC Bayern basically wants to hold on to Tuchel – at least until the end of the season. The unrest that an expulsion would cause would be too great.
However, dismissal is by no means ruled out. Rather, the Munich management team wants to look from game to game. That would mean that every duel could become a final for Tuchel.
According to the TV station, those responsible are already working on alternative solutions in the background. The preferred candidate is Xabi Alonso from Bayer Leverkusen. However, the Spaniard would not be available during the season. A change in the summer can also be doubted.
FC Bayern: Confusion about contact with Zidane
According to Sky, another candidate is Zinedine Zidane. The Italian “Corriere dello Sport” had previously written that the Frenchman was an issue at FC Bayern.
Accordingly, the German record champions are even in discussions with the star coach. However, “Sky” was unable to confirm the contact.
In addition to Zidane and Alonso, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also a candidate. The 50-year-old Norwegian is also on the market and most recently worked at Manchester United. The two currently clubless coaches Antonio Conte and Hansi Flick as well as VfB Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß have already been traded in Munich.
According to the TV station, Flick’s return is currently not a hot topic.
However, according to those responsible at the club, FC Bayern are currently not even considering a change of coach. When asked whether Tuchel would sit on the bench against cup winners RB Leipzig (6:30 p.m.) on Saturday, CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen made it clear: “Of course.”
Basically, he doesn’t think anything of “these monstrous statements of support for coaches.” The Bayern boss added: “I know what you want to hear, but these oaths of loyalty are over after a week. That’s why I’m saying it in my own way. That’s not a topic we’re dealing with at the moment . We have to concentrate on the next games.”
