Fabian Reese was missing from second division Hertha BSC in the winter due to a persistent viral illness. Without the top scorer, the Berliners were unable to win, and after his return the curve points upward again. The 26-year-old now explained how he got himself back into shape.
Fabian Reese subordinated everything to his comeback at Hertha BSC, and his partner apparently also felt this.
“I live to the max for sport, that’s why it’s a little better. You have to ask my girlfriend: There’s not much about romance or strolling on the Ku’damm,” Reese revealed in an interview with “kicker”: “It’s all there in the spirit of the best possible regeneration, for example with magnesium baths.”
The attacker was missing from Hertha in a total of three league games in December and January, from which the Bundesliga relegated team was only able to score two points. On his return in the cup quarter-finals against 1. FC Kaiserslautern (1:3), Reese promptly scored a goal, and a few days later in the 1:2 defeat against HSV he provided an assist.
After victories against Greuther Fürth (2:1) and Magdeburg (3:2), the results are now correct again from the Old Lady’s point of view. Against Magdeburg, Reese became the match winner with two goals.

“My thanks go to our athletic department,” emphasized the Hertha player: “I came into the illness at a very good level and paid a lot of attention to my body during and afterward.” He is “demanding a lot from his body” and in return he is “getting a lot in return”.
Fabian Reese, who is Berlin’s most important attacker with ten goals and eleven assists in 23 competitive games, doesn’t want to completely give up on the dream of direct promotion again. As eighth in the table, the gap to third place is six points. The goal: “Twelve games, twelve wins.”
Reese demanded: “We have to continue to do our household expenses – and then we’ll see what else is possible. I’m a dreamer. I believe in it with everything I have.”
