EU countries emitted 787 million tonnes of greenhouse gases in the third quarter last year, the lowest level in at least three years. This is evident from the latest data from Eurostat, the European statistical office. This is a decline of 7.1 percent on an annual basis, without any significant slowdown in the economy in Europe.
