The former restaurant manager of Rauman Lukko oy is accused of gross embezzlement. According to the prosecutor, the person embezzled at least 73,447 euros of the club’s money.
The trial of the case started in Satakunta district court this week.
According to the subpoena, the restaurant manager is suspected of embezzling money by making untruthful corrections to the cash accounting reports. His duties included transferring cash to the bank.
The man is said to have made the sales figures of the restaurant operation look lower than they really were with his records. According to the prosecutor, he deposited only part of the cash in the bank and took the rest for himself.
The suspected time of the crime is between November 2018 and December 2020. A criminal complaint was already filed in January 2021.
The restaurant manager has denied that he embezzled anything.
The prosecutor demands that the person be sentenced to a suspended prison sentence of at least one year and six months.
The mouse ate the papers?
People of Satakunta says that, according to the prosecutor, the embezzled amount may be significantly higher than 73,447 euros.
This is due to the fact that some of the settlement reports of the club’s sales points are missing.
The prosecutor suspects that the restaurant manager destroyed the evidence. This had delivered a bag of wet papers to Luko’s CEO at the time, when the club had realized the loss of funds.
The accused had justified the fading and disappearance of the accounting reports by the fact that the papers had been stored at the sales point of the ice rink, where, according to him, there was moisture and pests.
The restaurant manager said the mice had eaten some of the papers.
