The Japanese sports shoe specialist Asics achieved a sales record for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region in the 2023 financial year. Sales rose to 920 million euros in 2023, the subsidiary Asics EMEA announced on Friday. The operating profit margin was 9.1 percent.
“In 2023, we achieved our highest sales figures ever in the EMEA region despite very difficult market conditions,” said Carsten Unbehaun, CEO at Asics EMEA. “In 2023, we took important steps to significantly improve our sales, which will benefit our brand and our partners in the future.”
Asics was also able to increase sales in the individual categories in the region. In the SportStyle area, Asics EMEA recorded a year-on-year increase in sales of 32 percent and in the Core Performance Sports category – with a focus on tennis and indoor sports – a sales increase of 23 percent. The latter category climbed over the ‘100 million euro’ mark for the first time.
In online retail, Asics EMEA was able to achieve a 22 percent increase in sales compared to the same period last year.
“As we look forward, I am optimistic despite the industry-wide supply chain issues. Asics EMEA has controlled its inventory in 2023, which means we start the year with a very healthy inventory,” said Unbehaun. “We continue to see strong demand for our brand across all categories, markets and channels.”
