Irene Moors has completely ruined her career by exchanging her successful Sunday afternoon show on RTL 4 for a ‘new challenge’. “Will she ever return to TV? Do not think so.”
It is also known as a Jochem van Geldertje: leaving a successful program because you are ready for ‘a new challenge’, resulting in the destruction of your TV career. It also happened to Irene Moors. Nowadays we only see her in lottery commercials; in just a few years she has completely deteriorated.

Will Irene ever get a program on television again? “No, I don’t actually think so. I think her role on television has been played out a bit,” says ratings authority Tina Nijkamp in the podcast Tina’s TV Update.
Irene occasionally does some things out of sight of the camera, according to Tina. “She will present a show in Sound and Vision at the end of February following that exhibition by Joop van den Ende. There will be a very special occasion and there will be a show that she will present, but I no longer see her on television.”
RTL and SBS refuse
We will only see Irene in the commercial breaks for the time being, Tina expects. “Now we only see her in those Friends Lottery commercials. She is always on screen quite a lot there, but I think that RTL and SBS will choose other talents.”
She concludes: “Maybe as a freelancer she will occasionally get a sponsored program or something, but I don’t expect much from that.”
