Jadon Sancho was sorely missed at Borussia Dortmund in the disappointing 0-0 draw against 1. FC Heidenheim. In the coming games, the BVB coach is threatened with a real Sancho dilemma.
In Heidenheim, Terzic had to do without the services of Jadon Sancho. The winter newcomer struggled with muscular problems in the adductor area.
The Englishman had previously been in the starting line-up against VfL Bochum (3:1) and 1. FC Köln (4:0). Possibly too much for the offensive player who was long discarded at Manchester United.
According to “Bild”, Terzic and the Dortmund medical department are walking a fine line with Sancho. Sancho’s operating times are a “tightrope act” for everyone involved. Because of the long break from competition, load control plays a big role for the Englishman; there is a “delicate danger”.
In order to be fit for the games, the tabloid continues to report, Sancho is sitting out one or two training sessions. After all, at BVB they don’t want to take any risk of injury.
Terzic had already emphasized when signing Sancho: “We have to be very careful and can’t allow ourselves to chase him through too early.”
Before returning to Borussia Dortmund, Sancho played his last competitive game in August 2023. He was then banned from the squad by team manager Erik ten Hag.
Sancho has recently blossomed again at BVB. In his first appearance for the Revierklub after returning, he promptly contributed an assist in the win against Darmstadt. He also prepared a goal against 1. FC Köln.
BVB lacks offensive ideas in Heidenheim
At 1. FC Heidenheim, Terzic had to do without Sancho as well as Gregor Kobel, Julian Brandt and Marco Reus.
The Dortmund team that was on the field found it difficult to get into the game. On the offensive, BVB showed a lack of ideas despite having a lot of possession.
“We didn’t play a good game and didn’t deserve more than this one point,” said Terzic after the draw on “DAZN”: “We couldn’t develop any force and hardly create any chances to score. The draw is okay.”
