The rivalry between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid has existed for years. Now the clubs are also causing a stir off the pitch.
Carlo Ancelotti was angry. FC Barcelona’s public allegations of manipulation got on the Real Madrid coach’s nerves. “I am a professional and as such I will not stoop to this level,” said Ancelotti.
Barça president Joan Laporta and coach Xavi had complained that Real were influencing referees. In return, the “Royals” broadcast videos on their TV channel in which the referees were criticized. Xavi complained that the Spanish league was “completely distorted” by these influences.
Ancelotti, whose Real team is ten points ahead of their biggest rivals from Barcelona in the table, did not want to know anything about these allegations. “Don’t ask about it anymore, I don’t want to stoop to this level. That’s unprofessional,” said the 64-year-old.
