Karim Adeyemi has recently come under increasing criticism at Borussia Dortmund. It was not uncommon for a connection to be made between his low form and his relationship with rap star Loredana. The BVB professional now vehemently defended himself against it.
“I knew what I was getting myself into, that she was a person who was in the public eye,” said Adeyemi about his relationship in an interview published by BVB: “But I found that people react like that after a bad game cool.”
The 22-year-old made it clear: “Not unfair to me because I didn’t play well. Unfair to my girlfriend. She has nothing to do with how I play and perform on the pitch.”
The offensive player finds it “strange that some people take it upon themselves to judge people they don’t know.”
In recent months, Dortmund’s sports and tabloid media have repeatedly speculated that the youngster’s ongoing dip in form could have something to do with his relationship with the Swiss rapper and YouTuber Loredana.
It was said that Adeyemi had recently lost his absolute focus on professional football.
Adeyemi was self-critical about his performance: “It wasn’t a good first half of the season. I’m not happy with myself.”

Adeyemi was also heavily criticized for his cancellation of the two U21 international matches against Estonia and Poland in November. “I’m always very proud when I get to play for Germany. But I had to get the rhythm back and perform at Dortmund again before I could show off for the national team,” he called for understanding.
Adeyemi has not yet buried his dream of the 2024 European Championship at home. “It’s not often that you have a European Championship in your own country. Of course you want to be there and play for your country. But I have to get fit again and show myself,” said the winger, who has played four senior international matches so far.
