Venetian carnival procession colors the streets of Bruges

Two weeks before the start of the annual carnival in Venice, there is the procession in Bruges. About fifty walkers made their beautiful costumes from scratch.

The tradition came from Venice in the 16th century. At carnival you were not supposed to be able to tell whether the figures were men or women and the skin color had to remain secret.

The international association has about 500 members. You may only appear at a given location once with the same costume and mask. The walkers want to show off their costumes in the city center of Bruges.
