US national coach Gregg Berhalter understands BVB professional Giovanni Reyna’s desire to change. The 21-year-old has only appeared nine times in the Bundesliga this season, with Reyna coming on as a substitute eight times. “Every professional with ambition wants to be on the field,” said Berhalter on Friday in San Antonio. “In this case, Gio hasn’t gotten the playing time he wants and may be looking for alternatives – and that’s completely understandable.”
“ESPN” recently reported that the US international wanted to leave Dortmund this winter and had already been offered to numerous clubs in Europe. These clubs are said to include AS Monaco, Real Sociedad, Sevilla FC and Benfica Lisbon. Reyna, who has been playing for the Revierklub since the A-youth, has a contract with BVB that is valid until 2025. The Black and Yellows are aiming for a sum of 15 million euros as a transfer fee. When asked whether Reyna would stay at BVB, sports director Sebastian Kehl recently replied: “Sky“: “I can’t say that at the moment.”
