It was recorded as an unprecedented miracle in the world that the donor to Muhammet Güneş, who has been waiting for a kidney transplant for exactly 5 years, had the same name and surname, as well as the same blood and tissue samples. The process experienced by Muhammet Güneş, whose namesake’s kidneys were transplanted as a result of a surgery that lasted approximately 4 hours, was explained by his doctor of 16 years, Gazi University Pediatric Nephrology Specialist Prof. Dr. Hatice Kibriya Fidan told Hürriyet. “When I met Muhammed, he was a little child. We were treating him with my teacher, Prof. Dr. Oğuz Söylemezoğlu. As the years progressed, Muhammed became demoralized and resentful of life due to the difficult process he went through. We wanted to approach him with questions that could be asked to a child. ‘Which team do you support?’ We asked. He replied, ‘My father is from Galatasaray, but I don’t support a team.’ We told him that both of his doctors were Fenerbahçe fans. Our only goal was to connect him to life. He started receiving stomach dialysis in the last 5 years. This is a very difficult process.

It is really not easy to live connected to the machine even while sleeping at night. Muhammed’s name was included among the patients waiting for donations on the national kidney waiting list. After 5 years of waiting, a donor was found. The interesting thing was that both the names, surnames, blood types and tissue samples were completely compatible. A successful kidney transplant was performed at Gazi University. When he woke up after the surgery, he asked again, ‘Which team do you support?’ we said. This time his eyes sparkled and he said, “Of course, Fenerbahçe.” His father, who is a Galatasaray supporter, immediately went to Fenerium and bought a Fenerbahçe jersey for his son.”

Fenerbahçe Club, Prof. Muhammet Güneş, who performed the kidney transplant and helped him regain his health. Dr. Hatice Kibriya sent a thank you letter and a jersey to Fidan.
