Red Hot Chili Peppers: Anthony Kiedis’ memoir is being made into a film

There will be a movie about Red Hot Chili Peppers singer Anthony Kiedis. Universal Pictures has acquired the rights to the film adaptation of his memoir “Scar Tissue”. The production will be based on Kiedis’ best-selling 2004 autobiography. Viewers can gain insights into the rock star’s growing up and life. The focus should also be on his fight against drug addiction.

What is known about the film adaptation

The film project is directed by Brian Grazer and his production company Imagine Entertainment. Kiedis and his manager Guy Oseary will also work on the film. In doing so, they want to ensure that the film adaptation of the book authentically depicts the rock star’s emotional highs and lows. The studio is currently in the early development phase of the feature film project. So there is no mention of participating actors yet. Not even the person who will sit in the director’s chair is currently known. So there is currently no information about the start of filming or the release of the film in cinemas.

More about Anthony Kiedis and his book

Kiedis was born in Michigan in 1962 and moved to Los Angeles at the age of twelve. In 1983 he founded the Red Hot Chili Peppers together with guitarist Hillel Slovak, bassist Flea (Michael Balzary) and drummer Jack Irons. The group became known on a whole new level and globally with the release of their fourth studio album BLOOD SUGAR SEX MAGIK. The bestseller “Scar Tissue” covers his growing up in the drug-fueled punk scene of Los Angeles up to his success as the singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The band, currently consisting of frontman Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea, drummer Chad Smith and guitarist John Frusciante, has released 13 studio albums. Her most recent record RETURN OF THE DREAM CANTEEN was released in 2022.
