The US clothing group Gap Inc. has filled two key positions.
On Friday, the parent company of the Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic and Athleta brands said Eric Chan has been named chief business and strategy officer, effective immediately. In addition, Amy Thompson will take over the position of Chief People Officer on January 22nd, the group said.
The two new additions will therefore be part of the group’s management team in the future and will report directly to CEO Richard Dickson. They will play “critical roles” in an effort to “strengthen Gap Inc.’s foundation as it repositions itself for a new era,” according to a statement.
According to his new employer, Chan has more than twenty years of leadership experience in financial management and operations at established and emerging companies. Before joining Gap, he was Chief Financial Officer of the Los Angeles Clippers, an NBA basketball team.
Thompson can also look back on many years of experience with renowned international companies. Most recently, as Chief People Officer, she headed the human resources department of the toy supplier Mattel Inc., where Gap CEO Dickson, who had been in office since August, was previously employed.
