FC Bayern: Thomas Tuchel misses appreciation

Thomas Tuchel has experienced a rollercoaster of emotions at FC Bayern so far. The constant criticism of his work really bothered the coach.

When asked about the possibly greater appreciation of himself in England than in Germany, Tuchel took a quick breath, took a moment and then answered: “Yes.”

In an interview with “ESPN”, the 50-year-old, who coached Chelsea FC from January 2021 to September 2022 and won the Champions League with the Blues, explained: “I think that we treat each other very critically in Germany. Especially with players and… Coaches, not just me.”

There is a certain image of people and that applies for years, said Tuchel. Once you get stuck in a drawer, it’s hard to get out of there.

He’s not complaining, it’s just a fact: “I felt more recognition in England, yes.”

Thomas Tuchel is often criticized at FC Bayern

Tuchel is currently in second place in the championship with FC Bayern. With one game less, the gap to leaders Bayer Leverkusen is four points.

In the Champions League, the coach and the Munich team will face Lazio Rome in the round of 16, and in the DFB Cup the final stop was in the second round against third division team 1. FC Saarbrücken.

Tuchel inherited Julian Nagelsmann last spring. In the last few meters he led the team to the Bundesliga title, but this required a mistake from direct rivals Borussia Dortmund.

Since then, the trainer has repeatedly had to listen to criticism from TV experts such as Lothar Matthäus and Dietmar Hamann. According to their own statements, they missed “further development” at FC Bayern, especially in the first half of the current season.

However, the German industry leader now seems to have stabilized, and Tuchel has not been in the media spotlight as much recently.
