Violence release music video for “Trans”

The words “Trans” can be seen in blue neon letters. Immediately afterwards, “by violence” lights up in pink: The Berlin band around Patrick Wagner shared a music video for the song “Trans,” which was released on Friday (January 12th). The 9:16 format of the video presents a collage of people dancing and singing along to the lyrics.

“I created myself, I’m trans!”

The song serves as the soundtrack for the upcoming film “The Soldier Monika” by director Paul Poet. The main character, Monika Donner, is not only a transgender elite soldier, but also an advocate for gender rights and a political author who addresses the extreme right. Her human portrayal reflects the disunity of society, a nuance that is also reflected in the torn and emotionally charged music of violence.

Violence draws attention to trans rights

The video doesn’t end with the music, but makes a statement by showing facts about the challenges trans people face. With messages like “320 trans people murdered worldwide in 2023” and “Germany: forced sterilization for transsexuals was required by law until 2011,” the band gives their music a socially critical context.
